About the Team
This exciting opportunity is positioned within the School of Agricultural Sciences, part of the College of Environmental and Life Sciences. Within this framework, the Land Management Group collaborates with SoilsWest, a leader in soil-focused research and outreach initiatives at Murdoch University.

Your New Role!
As a Lecturer in Crop and Soil Management, your contributions will extend across teaching, supervision and research development within crop and soil management disciplines. Additionally, you will collaborate on projects in Bangladesh and Western Australia under the “Change in soil and water dynamics and supporting adoption of Conservation in Bangladesh” initiative (SLAM/2022/101 SACA). This research is supported by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and focuses on evaluating the sustainability of conservation agriculture within rice-based cropping systems.
Core Responsibilities
Your responsibilities in this role will be multi-faceted, spanning teaching, research and contribution to the broader academic community:
- Research and Project Contribution
- Actively engage in the ACIAR-funded project SLAM/2022/101 (SACA).
- Develop a strong academic and professional profile in crop and soil management.
- Undertake independent research leading to quality publications in your field of expertise.
- Contribute to successful grant applications, both independently and as part of a research team.
- Teaching and Supervision
- Deliver high-quality teaching in crop and soil management through unit coordination, lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops and fieldwork.
- Develop innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning experiences.
- Create course materials, coordinate units and oversee course planning.
- Supervise research projects at undergraduate, honors, postgraduate and HDR (Higher Degree by Research) levels.
- Offer advice and guidance to undergraduate, postgraduate and HDR students.
- Service to the Academic Community
- Actively contribute to the activities of the School, Land Management Group and SoilsWest.
- Support the University in achieving its strategic objectives through teaching, research and community engagement.
- Participate in the University’s Annual Career Development Conversation (ACDC).
- Undertake additional responsibilities as determined by the School Dean.
What We Offer
This role is offered as a Fixed-Term (4 Years), Full-Time position with an annual workload of 37.5 hours per week. The remuneration package includes:
- A salary range of $108,849 – $128,939 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.
- Incremental salary increases totaling an 8% rise between January 2025 and July 2026.
